Why discipleship? In August 2012, our church had a four part sermon series highlighting the topics of Prayer, The Word, Fellowship, and Witnessing. These messages were intended to be the foundation of how Jesus wants to live through us as believers and as a local church. Simply put - we want to take making disciples seriously!
Goss Memorial Church has adopted the discipleship model of the discipleship wheel, as designed and promoted by The Navigators.
The analogy of a wheel involving the four areas of Prayer, The Word, Fellowship, and Witnessing (with Christ at the center) will give anyone a balanced approach to move toward daily Christian life and growth. Just like a well designed wheel rolls on the road, we desire that each Christian connected to our church would take an active role in personal growth for themselves and (eventually) leading others to spiritual growth as well.
Anyone can run programs and have worship services. Certainly we desire to glorify God in these meeting times, but building relationships that create lasting spiritual foundations takes time, dedication, and investment.
A webpage has been created for each of the four spokes of the discipleship wheel and can be found under the tab "Discipleship". These pages are designed to point us to resources that will help us grow in each of the four areas. We hope these resources will help as you commit to personal growth or work with others as they grow.
Please contact us if you have any questions about spiritual growth in any of the four areas or would like to work with someone to help you grow.
