Often when we think of love in an emotional sense, love can distract. Talk to any school teacher after March each school year. Students love the warmer weather and feel like they love each other. Distraction!
Perhaps you remember some of your first childhood loves. A boyfriend or girlfriend. Or how you felt spending time with your best friends. When remembering these, emotions often stir.
So let me give a quick preview of what we'll look at Sunday night. By the way, I love Church Family Worship, so take this as your invitation to come at 6:00 Sunday if you're local.
I Peter 5 uses languge such as: Be sober minded, watchful. Resist him (the devil). This follows a command to humility.
Romans 13 encourages us to wake up from our slumber. This focus on salvation follows a command to love.
So in this sense, loving God and loving others makes a big difference, doesn't it? Instead of drifting off into daydream land, love of Jesus and love of others love brings an alertness to spiritual realities.
Let us love in such a way to bring focus and spiritual engagement!
