Have you ever thought about trees? If you don't grow them or it's not Christmas or you're not undertaking a landscaping project, then probably not. I recently read an article that made me think a lot about trees - and the Bible.
Here's the link. Please read it: Trees teach life, death, and resurrection.
Trees often find themselves in the picture when God works. The element of time really helps me connect this truth to my life. No tree grows in a short amount of time. No human does either. Some applications:
1) The fruit of the Spirit is patience.
Yes. Patience. Waiting. Over time. Your spiritual growth may not come about as quickly as you like. Trees communicate that waiting comes with a relationship with God. Deal with that and ask God for His help as you wait.
2) Fruitfulness will happen!
I really need to hear this from time to time. Anyone else feel like their spiritual tires spin in muddy spots a lot? I can relate. If I'm seeking a greater relationship with God through faith in His Son Jesus Christ, He promises fruitfulness will happen.
Look up, friends. God's promises don't fail. Let his faithfulness encourage you today.
In Christ,
Kevin
