This Sunday we will cover the rest of Genesis 21. The last thirteen verses (vs. 22-34) contain a story unfamiliar in many ways.
First, most people don't know it as the most famous Bible story of Genesis, or even chapter 21. Second, Abimelech and Phicol don't stand out as the most notable characters in the book of Genesis. Third, we have trouble relating to treaties, water disagreements, and planting trees. Finally, we generally don't know geography well either, so those added details present challenges also.
I always encourage reading and research. No matter what church you may attend each Sunday, do your best to find out the passage ahead of time and read it. Do some research based on questions you'd ask. Prepare yourself for God to speak to you!
For this Sunday, I'll provide an article that might help.
The Day Abraham Planted A Tree
Take time. Enjoy the prep. Come ready for the Spirit to challenge yourself and all who attend this weekend.
In Christ,
Pastor Kevin
