Well it is a new year. Will it be a happy one? Chances are we will see an end to COVID which will make it end happier than it started, but there are no guarantees. After all, the new year is just another movement on the hand of the clock. It will mean graduation for some, a time to get taxes ready for the masses, new adventures that are planned for many and resolutions for the brave. I stopped making resolutions a few years ago. Why punish myself for a few days? I mean, I know that was all they were going to last.
This year we will get a new President and a new vaccine. Not everyone is happy about the new President, but you will never get millions and millions of people to agree on any one thing. Some people say they will take the vaccine and some say they will not. Again, everyone has different opinions.
However, there is one thing I hope all of us as Christians, true followers of Christ, can agree on. God is still on his throne. Nothing is happening here that he does not know about. Our hope is in Christ and if we ever needed hope it is now. Between COVID and politics right now I don't know how people cope with all that is going on without Jesus. Stop the world, I want to get off! ( A 1961 musical) But I sit here writing this feeling calm and worry free. This is not to say I don't care about what is happening, I do and I think we all do. Jesus instructed us love Him and to love our neighbor (Matt 22:37-38). We can do that and leave the rest up to God. Let us put away our anger and hate and show the world what love is all about. Let's get them asking us why we are not afraid or angry. Let them ask us where our love comes from. Now that's a conversation.
