I recently participated in the Goss Ladies’ Bible Study of a book by Lysa Terkeurst, “It’s Not Supposed to be This Way”. We all go through trials in life. This book really brought home to me that God is always in control. It taught me to not think I have to control everything, but I need to trust and believe that God will work out everything for good. He will never fail to follow through on his promises to us.
Lysa states that sometimes disappointments are a way of leading us home. God loves us so much. He wants us to acknowledge him and lean on him. We may never know the purpose for the trials we face. But it should help us grow in our faith as we learn to trust that God will lead us through anything, and make it out for good.
Through trials God can shape and strengthen us. But we must trust and give control back to him. I can’t imagine facing difficult situations without God on my side. What a hopeless feeling that would be.
This study was also a nice time of fellowship with this wonderful group of ladies.
(James 1:12)
Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him.
